  1. The ruins of this ancient castle are to be seen in a field at Irishtown. It is believed that the castle was built by the Normans. The field on which it was built is called the castle field.
    The Normans fought a battle there with the Irish. The field in which the battle was fought is called the "man of war", another field is called the "moors", another the moate field.
    There is also an old cemetery where those who fell in the battle are buried.
