  1. Many old men of this district are great astronomers and can fore-tell the coming weather. Many a time I proved for myself when I saw the horse with his back to the wall that it was a sign of a storm.
    It is also a sure sign of a wet day when you see the hens run to shelter and begin to pick themselves.
    Many a time I have heard old people say "Watch out for the redness at the butt of the sky" and that is a sure sign of wind, and when the redness goes up in the sky it is a sign of frost.
    When you see the soot fall it is a sign of a wet day.
