    Every year on Shrove Tuesday people make what are called pancakes. It is an old custom to keep "Christmas Holly" to make a fire to cook the Shrove Pancake. It is when the first panful is cooked that the little children come in asking for something to eat, and each gets a pancake. After a while they come in looking for more.
    Pancakes are made in this way: you get some flour, baking-powder, margarine, lemons, new milk, sugar and eggs. The flour is put into a basin, and mixed with some new milk, then a little sugar is added, the eggs and all mixed together and put into the pan with some
