  2. The Fête of the Trysting - Tree

    Near Finan's pile there stands a tree,
    A stately beech, as man may see,
    Whose verdant boughs extend around.
    For many a perch, in circle bound,
    And yield, by nature's bounty made,
    In Summer's noon, a cooling shade;
    And where the fairies oft resort
    At eventide to hold court,
    As on this night in varied hue;
    A merry group appears in view.
    Distinguished on a throne of green,
    In regal splendour sits the queen,
    And by her side, and at her feet,
    Her sylvan train in converse sweet
