    Long ago before there were doctors people had to cure themselves.
    When a person got a cut, they put a cobweb on it and prevented it from bleeding. When a person had warts they rubbed ink on them and they soon vanished.
    When a person had the whooping cough they tied a thin strip of flannel round the persons neck.
    When anyone had the mumps they passed the person round an ass six times. There are certain wells in this locality which cure the whooping cough.
