- When toys were not to be got in shops the children made them at home. One of the most popular of these toys is the catapult. At first the boy looks for piece of stick in the shape of a fork. The stick is always ash. He then gets two strips of square or round rubber. It is applied to the fork with a piece of string. he gets a piece of soft leather. The leather suitable. (F) Is the tongue of an old boot. Catapults were very dangerous, and it is against the law to carry one nowadays.
