  1. Before toys were made in factories boys often made them themselves. Some toys made at home were catapults, tops, snares, and wooden traps for birds.
The toy used mostly was the catapult because it was made very easily.
To make a catapult a wooden fork, rubber, and a piece of soft leather is needed. The fork is joined to the rubber, which is solid and 1/4 inch square by a piece of string. The other end of the rubber is joined to the leather. The catapult is then complete and one is able to throw a stone very far with it.
Boys do not use it very often now as it is considered a dangerous toy.
