- Long ago the people in Swords married in the summer and this custom is still carried on. People say that if you marry in Autumn you will die young.Although many people marry on Sunday, Wednesday is considered the luckiest. The girls and boys marry of their own free will. Some people put a sum of money in the bank as a dowry for their son or daughter.Not many people are married in their own homes now, but long ago it used to be a great custom, and even here(continues on next page)
