a bag put it on his back, came into the public house and called for a glass of Irish whiskey "I have no money to pay for it" says he "but I have a good value here in this bag, a real mystery." "What do you want for it" says the landlord five pounds says he "it was in our family for years, an heirloom." "Ill take it" says the landlord so he pays him the five pounds over the counter. The bag ws so well tied round the mouth that it took the landlord a half hour to undo it. By that time the two lads were miles away before the landlord came to his senses at what had happened. So that is how Mike and Pat stole the rope and got a good feed over in England.
