trees and houses were blown down.
In one severe thunderstorm about fifty or sixty years ago the cross was blown off the Chapel. The winters now however are not quite so severe as they were then. The last storm we had was in 1937. Snow fell heavily for some hours. Travelling was suspended and many people were snowbound for some days.
