    Mr Lynch sang this song for me, it was composed by John Shiels a local poet coming from Bellewstown Races, and was made for a bet in the Public house.
    (I)
    All youse that are fond of merriment.
    Draw near on to those lines,
    And I won't detain youse long,
    Its all for pleasant pas time,
    That happens in the month of June,
    When lamb kins they do sport and play,
    Beside each purling rill,
    When the blackbird, lark and Nightgale,
    Do all unite in joyous tune,
    To aid the lustrous to the jovial merit
    Of Bellewstown Hill.

    Twas early in the morning,
    When Sol displayed his golden beams,
    And Flora spreads her mantle,
    All over the flowery plains,
    The quality of each degree.
    Likewise the healthy peasantry,
    Do flock from town and country,
    Real pleasure to obtain,
    To Bellewstown of high renown
    To see the races running round
