    Mumps When child suffered from the mumps it was brought to a pig sty. A friend held the child over the sty and recited in Irish three times - mucna mucna -
    Seo chugaibh na leicne. This was done three days running.
    Baldness in children due o sickness - The hair of a young ass was mixed with unsalted butter and made it into a paste. This was applied as a poultice and left for nine days on the head. It seldom failed to make the hair grow again.
    Rheumatism If a person put a raw potato into his or her pocket and carried it always about, that person would not suffer form rheumatism. Even if suffering from this complaint the carrying about of a raw potato when told do so, effected a cure.
