    The pillar towers of Ireland how wondrously they stand,
    By lakes and rushing rivers through the valleys of our land,
    In mystic file through our isle they lift their heads sublime,
    These grey old pillar temples those conquerors of time.
    As we travel through Ireland we see many old ruins. Ireland especially can boast of her ancient ruins. Most of the churches and towers were destroyed in the dark period of "Cromwell in Ireland".
