    Its sweet to sit at evening tide
    And view Castle Grove
    But sweeter far in Summer time its shady paths to rove
    I've travelled most the south of France,
    The Alps I did explore
    Of beauties rare they have their share
    But cannot touch Lismore.

    Blackwater flows so gently on to swell the deep blue sea
    Its beauties course beyond for miles
    Till hidden by Killbree
    The Commeraghs in the distance
    To Heaven seems to soar
    Artists paint but very faint the scenes around Lismore

    Just beside the river the Castle proudly stands
    Those which stood the fierce onslaught
    Of Herod Cromwell's hands
