    an Ass.
Saint Joseph was a carpenter. One day when he was coming home to Nazareth after his day's work he met Our Lord and His Blessed Mother coming to meet him. On their way home Saint Joseph and the Blessed Mother were speaking to one another while Our Lord was running through the fields playing. While he was running His foot got caught in a briar and it bled. Then the Blessed Mother took Him in her arms and the drops of blood that fell from the foot fell on the white poppy flowers and they turned red. Ever since the poppy is red.
