  1. There was once a poor widow who had several children and she had nothing to give them to eat. So to keep them from crying, she got a pot of stones, and told the children they were potatoes. They asked her when would they be boiled, so she pretended they would not be long. The third time they asked her were they boiled and when she went to the pot she found they had turned into potatoes.
