How the pig came into being

This is the story that I heard l
about how a pig came first into
the world.
Long ago when Saint Brigid
had all the leavings left after the
meals she was very sorry because
she nothing to eat them.
So she prayed to Our Lord and
He appeared to her and told her
to put a piece of meat under a basin
and in the morning she would find
something under it.
So Brigid did this one night and
in the morning she looked in under
it and a little animal jumped out
from under it which they called a pig.
