    rushes were placed on the windows and on the doorstep and a yellow flower was fixed in the form of a cross on the inside of windows.
    Rushes were also used to thatch houses also heather supposed to be better than straw if fixed up properly but there was an art in doing it.

  2. Hospital Ruin

    On the road to Ballyvooney. The ruins of a very primitive Hospital are still to be seen. The "Dead House" is still standing. Fell into disuse when The Workhouse Hospital was built in Kilmac.
