    O steep File-na-Thaida, how wild is the shriek
    Of seagulls aloft o'er each high frowning peak
    The gale-driven downpour, each torrent of foam
    Invades their unsheltered and lone island home.
    Confusion now taunts them, bereft of their brood,
    Grim hunger is haunting the vain quest of food.
    Now soaring, now swooping, so frantic they call
    Where an ocean is lashing the cliff's rugged wall.
