    plains of Nire Vale.
Awakening next morning it's well you may know
With a heart full of sorrow and a mind full of woe,
Across the Atlantic I quickly set sail
To once more see my darling on the plains of Nire Vale.
What do you think when I reached her abode
Oh! woe to the hand that is on her in troth
For there my darling sat silent and pale
To be buried next morning on the plains of Nire Vale.
