    Bhí fear bocht uair amháin. Ag dul ó áit go h-áit ag lorg deirce do bhíodh sé. Aon áit a raghaidh sé do bhíodh fáilte roimhe. Do bhí sé an-deas cainnteach agus is mo scéal a bhíodh aige.
    Tráthnóna dá raibh sé ag siúl an bóthar chuaidh sé isteach thar claidhe ib-páirc aitinn chun brosna beag do bhaint. Le linn bheith ag baint an brosna tháinigh an feirmeoir. Dúirt an feirmeoir leis stad agus gan bheith ag goid a cuid aitinn. Do lsbhair an fear agus arsa sí :
    Imtheochaidh a dtiocfaidh is a dtáinigh
    Ach ní intheochaidh na grásta ó Dhia
    Imtheochaidh mise is tusa ón áit seo
    Agus bheidh aiteann ag fás 'nár ndhiaidh.

    An herb called bay leaf which grows on the banks of the river is said to cure a sore throat. It is said that they should be gathered in the morning and drank at night fall. They should also be boiled in new milk and drank fro three nights. You should also say certain prayers and have faith in the herbs.
