    and the ship turned on her side. The captain then decided to swim ashore. He strapped his only little girl on his back and the mate strapped the girls' mother on his back. The sea being too rough they were all drowned except three sailors who reached Dungarvan safely. The bodies of the captain, his family and the rest of the crew were washed upon the Cunnigar on Christmas morning, and they are all buried in one grave in the Protestant cemetery in Dungarvan.

    Once there lived in this locality a very foolish boy named Paddie. One day he went looking for work. He called to a man named Jack Bennett and asked for employment. He got the job with pleasure and he was very happy there. A few days later the farmer was getting ready to cut the corn. He gave "Paddie" a scythe and told him to cut the headlands. Paddie said "will this cut the headlands." "Don't you know better then that Paddie" said the farmer "it will." Paddie went down the field. He left the scythe on the
