  1. People were far better walkers long ago than now. People of this district used to walk a long way to fairs in Cork or in Kerry. There were a few strong men around here, Pad Hackett and John Casey.
    John Drohan's father was a great jumper. He jumped from one pier to the other at Briens. The piers were about twelve feet apart. John Walsh's father and Dick Connell's father were great story tellers.
