  1. About sixty years ago a ferryboat was crossing from the Ferrypoint to Youghal. Most of the passengers and crew were drowned as a fierce storm rose and capsized the boat. There was great sorrow for all the people who were lost and never seen again.
    The time of the Irish 'troubles' the Clashmore RIC barracks was burnt by the Irish Republican Army in July the 14th 1921.
