  1. Long ago people used make bread out of yellow meal and barley. They used also make cakes out of potatoes and they still make them. They used also make cakes out of crushed white oats called oaten meal cakes. Griddle cakes used to be made long ago in the form of squares. A griddle is a thing made out of wires and laid on a brand.
    On special occasions people make different kind of cakes such as hot cross buns on good Friday night and pancakes. People put crosses on cakes to bake them well. People put potatoes in cakes yet to raise them instead of bread soda.
