  1. Some years ago, there lived in Tallow, two very old men. One was very tall, and the other was very small. One night, as the two were going to bed, the smallest asked of his comrade, to say a prayer for him. So he said, he had only one prayer, but at his request, he would say it for him. When he got into bed, he said the prayer for him, and this is what he said-
    "Now I lay me down to sleep, The grey backs all around me creep, And if one should bite me 'fore I wake, I hope to gosh his jaws will break."
