  1. There was once a monastery long ago in Stewarts of Kilbree. The monks there had gold and on hearing that the English were going to take it, they buried it in an underground passage and put soldiers to guard it.
    One night two men dreamed of it and went in search of it. When they got to a hard flag and were just going to lift it up, a big man appeared and hunted them away.
    The next night they came to the flag and found it was gone. Not long after they came again to look for it. This time a man came up on horse-back and said it would cost someone's life before it could be got.
