    One day a woman was down catching small fry with a bucket and a rope tied to it. The bank broke under her and she was falling into the river. Then the Maidrín Droichid came behind her and took her out of the water. The same day the Maidrín Droichid walked in to a man who lived in Twigbog. The mans name was Ned Dunne. One night himself and his son were sitting at the fire talking. Ned looked down towards the door. He saw Maidrín Droichid. He said to his son to get the hatchet and when he looked around the dog was as large as the cow and he was hardly
