  1. The present church in Cappoquin is about 120 years old. The old church was situated a half mile from the town in a place called Fadduaga. The wood where the chapel was situated is called the Chapel Wood. The people used to go to the chapel through the street now known as Mass Lane or Old Chapel Street. The chapel was made of mud plaster but there is no sign of it now to be seen. There was a graveyard behind the church and the stump of a tree on which the bell hung is still to be seen.
