    Plagues and Epidemics
In the year 1900 twenty thousand British soldiers were camped on 'Terry's Hills' near Aglish, Co. Waterford. It is said that they ate bad meat and got interic fever. Before many had died they were removed to Co. Kildare. For some time after all eatables in the district had to be boiled before using.
In 1918 and 1936 many people died with the epidemic influenza.
