    Garret Roche swam from Villierstown to Youghal, a distance of thirteen miles.
    Denid Hannigan, Bridane, Lismore was a great swimmer. he could go down under the water and stay for as long as you would ask him.

  2. Swift Runners :- Noel O'Donnell of Lismore competed at Lismore Marathon Race against an O'Keeffe. They ran a distance of eight miles in three-quarters of an hour. Noel O'Donnell won.
    Race between human beings and horses :- Pat O'Keeffe ran from Lismore to Waterford against a horse. The owner of the horse thought surely his horse would win - but O'Keeffe beat him to Waterford.
