Great Walkers
I heard of some good walkers.
Mr. Thomas Tobin, Ballyin used walk to Limerick for the digging of potatoes. If he would not be hired, he would come back again the same evening.
Mr. Daniel Manahan, Loglea, was brought to Cork in a motor-car and he walked home. He left Cork at eleven o'clock. When he came (he came) to Tallow he met two guards. They gave him two pints of porter and a loaf of bread. He arrived at Lismore at three o'clock.
High Jumpers
Mr. John Dennehy, Coole, and his brother Bartholomew used jump from five feet six inches, to seven feet.
His opponent was Mr. Kent, Fermoy.
There was a challenge. Mr. J. Dennehy beat Mr. Kent.
The scene of the contest was in Lismore and Ballysaggart.
