  1. Local marriage Customs.
    Marriages mostly take place in our district during Shrove or on Shrove Tuesday.
    Some people say:
    "Monday for health,
    Tuesday for wealth,
    Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    and Saturday no luck atall."
    There are no matches made in our district. Some very well-off people get very good fortunes. Stock and goods are given to farmers when they are getting married.
    A wedding feast is always held at the bride's home. In this district there are no horses in the wedding procession, only all motors.
    "Strawboys" still come to the houses. They dress up very comically and the ones that would not be invited would blacken their faces with soot or coal. Then they would behave very
