    In olden times the croppy pikes were made at the forge.
    The forge was the meeting place of the Fenians and it was in the forge soldiers learned drill and swore allegiance to each other and to their chief.

  2. There are only two tailors in this district. Mr. Farrell and Mr. Enright. They work in their own homes. Mr. Farrell stocks cloth but the cloth is made locally.
    About forty or fifty years ago shirts were made of stuff called baffety. A good many women still knit socks and stockings.
