  1. This is a prayer said going to bed.
When I lay down on my bed to sleep,
I give my soul to God to keep,
And if I die before I awake,
I give my soul to God to take.
    See the Blessed Virgin coming,
And seven Mass-books in her hands,
Seven Priests singing, seven bells ringing.
Open the gates of Heaven shut the gates of hell.
Whoever shall say this little Prayer there times by night and three times by day never shall see the fire of hell.
