  1. Many people in this locality usually get married in Shrove. This season begins on the month of January and ends on Shrove Tuesday.
    Some young people make their own matches while others have matches made for them. It often happens that friends draw up a match between a boy and a girl who never even met until everything is arranged regarding money etc.
    The intended bridegroom then goes to see the girl and if he is pleased by her appearance, the date of the wedding is then fixed.
    Sometimes the marriage takes place in the morning with Nuptial Mass. When the happy pair are leaving the church the friends throw old shoes after them and more throw showers of rice to wish them good luck.
    In most cases the whole party go to the newly married man's home where there is great feasting and rejoicing.
