  1. Hedge-Schools
    There was a school taught in a house not 200 yards from this school in which we are at present.
    This was known as the Eskeragh school. It was close to the East of the school but the house in which school was taught has long since disappeared. The teachers name was Celia Mc Loughlin. She was not a stranger. She was from the townland of Corroderra.
    This teacher lived in her own house, and the school was carried on in one house only. The children were to pay school fees according to the length of time they attended school. Irish was not used in
