  1. I propose to give the best riddles in my opinion, from a number of copies. The samples given will show the quality contained in the copies.
    1. As I was in London, I saw a great wonder, three pots boiling and no fire under? Solution: Three wells boiling.
    2. It's deep & its damp, and it's green when the bank, and it's fit for a lord, or a lady? Solution: a grave.
    3. Four legs up, & four legs down, soft in the middle and hard all round? Sol. a bed.
    4. What's full, & holds more? Sol. A pot of potatoes when you pour water in.
    5. A leaper of ditches, a cutter of corn, a tight little fellow, with two leather horns? Sol. A hare.
    6. A black scalloped "housing," a red painted floor, one tapping inside, and outside the door? Sol. A person raising the latch of a door.
    7. How many feet has forty sheep, the shepherd, and his dog? Sol. Two feet.
