  1. There was a giant living at the foot of Tristia long ago and his name was Peadar Mór. He did not look very strong but once he proved his strength. One day he went up to the top of Tristia and he lifted a big rock. He threw the rock and it rested up on the hill at Poll buidhe above John Corcoran's house in Letterbrick.
    There were two other giants living at the foot of Nephin. The giants were nearly of the same strength and were comparing about their strength. One day they went up to the top of Nephin and they took up a big stone each. The first threw the stone and it nested below in Carrowkeel where Mac Hugh now lives. Then the other giant threw the other stone and it rested on one side of the first stone. The stones were about ten hundred weight. The stones were there until about two years ago. Then
