  1. The fox and the badger the rabbit and the hare are the only wild animals in my place.
The fox lives in a den under a rock where nobody can see him. He lives on fowl and young lambs. A fox's tongue would draw a thorn from the bone in a person's hand or foot.
The badger lives in a den also. There are two kinds of badgers: the pig-badger and the dog-badger. A person could eat the pig-badger's meat, but you could not eat the dog badger. He lives on the roots of heath and grass.
The rabbit lives in a burrow in a sandy bank. He lives on grass and if he got into a piece of oats he would eat it.
The hare lives in a long heath and rushes. He makes a bed for himself in it. He eats grass only.
