Shops were more common formerly than now .Money was not always given in exchange for goods . Labour was often given instead of goods .Animals were often exchanged for goods also.
There are many words connected with buying and selling such as , " boot " , "tick " , "cant " .
"Boot" was the money given with the smaller animal in exchange for the larger one.(continues on next page)
