  1. When the Penal Laws were in force a priest was hiding in our village - Tubridge. The yeomen heard all about him and where he was hiding through a spy. Fifteen of them left Foxford and came along the north side of Neiphin. The night came cold and stormy, the soldiers sat down to rest, four of them perished on that spot, to this day it is called Cross. The rest of them still continued n their journey till they came behind Keenagh Lodge, six more of them perished there
