    There was once a man from the parish of Backs who went to the fair in Castlebar.

    There was once a man from the parish of Backs who went to the fair in Castlebar. As he had to walk it he started early on the previous morning and arrived there about three oclock. He went into a Hotel and got his dinner. He then set about getting lodgings for the night. He went into a small boarding house, and got lodgings. He slept in a room with a black man. Before he went to bed he asked the landlady to call him at five oclock. When the black man heard this he knew that he would be in a hurry on the following morning. During the night he got up, and got some black polish and a brush
