Once upon a time there was a man who was very poor.

Once upon a time there was a man who was very poor. He had a big family and had not worked for seven years in his forge. One day the devil came to him and said if he came with him at the end of seven years, he would make him a rich man. The blacksmith consented. At the end of the seven years the blacksmith went out to his forge and began to make a horse shoe. While he was making it, the devil came into the forge and began to put all the tools away. He took the sledge and as he was leaving it down, he fastened to it. He said to the blacksmith if he let him go, he would give him seven years. The blacksmith did as he was asked.
