  1. Some time ago there lived a man in Ballymacredmond named Tadhg Callaghan, and there was a young baby in the next house. It was Tadhg who stood for the child. The child got ill, and Tadhg went to see her. As he was passing by the house the baby was handed out the window to him.
Tadhg went home with the child, and he gave her to his wife, and the woman fed her, and put her to bed. The next morning the news was through the village that the baby was dead in her own house. Tadhg went o the house where the child was supposed to be dead.
When he went in all the people were crying, and he told them not to be crying. He told them to make a big fire. When they had a big fire made he stood up to burn the child hat was dead.
When he was about to burn the child, she ran out and she said, "you won't burn me." It was a fairy child that was in it. Tadhg then went home an brought the right child home to the mother.
