  1. My Native Village
    My native village is called Tubbernaveen (meaning well of the
    Fians).
    It is situated on the old main road to Castlebar and Newport on this road the French army marched to Castlebar in the
    As its name implies the village has an abundent supply of pure spring water, each house having its own well.
    There are sixteen homesteads with a population of about sixtey persons.
    The land is of a rocky nature, the older inhabitants say there is a slate quary in the vicinity.
    It was here the "Lion of the Fold" the great Archbishop of Tuam was born and some of his relatives reside
