  1. The local forge.
There are two forges in my parish. THe smiths are Pat Lowther and Jamesy Gainly. Pat Lowther's father was the first of the family to be a smith but Gainly's people have been smiths for many generations. Pat Lowther's forge is at a crossroads in Cooneal and Gainley's forge is in Rappa Castle yard.
Pat Lowther's forge is the nearest forge to my house. It is a small house with a timber roof on it and there is tar on the timber. There is one fire place in it. The implements the smith uses in his work are the bellows, anvil, sledge, hammer, wrench, pincer, tongs, cutter, knife, rasp, punch, screw plate and a vice.
    He shoes horses and asses.
