  1. Holy Wells.
    There is a well in Ballintubber. It is said that it was a blessed well long ago. A lot of people used to come and pray at it and if anyone got sick they would come to the well and say prayers and they would get cured. There lived a protestant near the well and he had a blind ass and he said he would bring the ass to the well to see would he get his sight. He went to the well and the ass got his sight but the man went home [?] blind.
    There are no holy wells in the parish of Ardagh but there is one, two miles to the East of it in the parish of Ballina. It is called St. Patrick's Well. There is another one three miles to the North of it in Mullafarry in the parish of Cooneal. It is called St. Bridget's well. There is another one in Rosserk also in
