  1. Land War.
    When the landlords were being shot during the land agitation it was usual to cast lots in order to decide who would do the shooting. One of the landlords of this locality was called Lord Arran. He happened to hear that he himself was to be shot and the man selected for the purpose was Tomas McCawley.
    He sent for McCawley and offered him his choice of all the farms [?] he possessed provided he gave up the intention of shooting him.
    McCawley agreed and he was given a farm in Crofton Park.
    He was afterwards arrested and imprisoned. His brother then took possession of the land.
