  2. Martin Corcoran. Ballina.
    Martin Corcoran was a famous weight-thrower and weight-lifter. He threw 1/2 cwt [?] 27 1/2 ft. in America. It was a world champion throw. He lifted 4 cwts 2 lbs up on a counter in some shop in Ballina. With one hand he straightened 8 1/2 st at his ease. He threw the 1/2 cwt 13 1/2 ft. over the bar.
